Who pays for the expences of Gotta Love Vancouver?

Gotta Love Vancouver is not sponsored by government or business dollars. Okay, then who pays the bills? The Anhart Foundation, a Canadian charitable organization, generously sponsors the costs of this initiative. Well, fine, but who sponsors the Anhart Foundation?

Anhart is part of global network of autonomous non-profits and community contribution companies in Canada, Sub Saharan countries and Philippines. In 2013, the network got a boost when impact investors donated what is now $10M in equity value through two Vancouver Downtown Eastside properties. Now, Anhart working directors from more than 100 community-based organizations in eight countries create alternative communities of bottom-up development.

Anhart’s self-supporting governance approach creates a freedom to work with the strong forces of government and business while maintaining autonomy.

Professionals such as architects, engineers, developers, builders, lawyers, accountants and others invoice in a normal business manner, but also “go the extra mile” Inner cities have social issues that require collaboration with government and business interests and require professional consultants with sensitivities.

Volunteers can work with Gotta Love Vancouver in an almost infinite number of ways. It starts by sharing personal skills, giftings, and interests. Research administration and outreach work can be done from home, or in personal by being on the ground in inner city settings. Most importantly, volunteers can experience new and interesting tasks that are performed with guidance in a team setting.

Ignorance helps emergent systems

Is not-knowing really useful in emergent systems? Ant colonies, thrive on ‘ignorance’—lack of complete information—which fosters decentralized, decision-making and collective intelligence. Our team emphasizes adaptation and dynamic learning drive to innovation. No prior knowledge required.
